As a national physical society, and member of the European Physical Society, our goal is to promote physics and support physicists. For this purpose, we organise a range of activities and membership benefits.
On these pages you will find information about membership, and about the BPS general meeting. Also archived issued of B-Phy, our electronic magazine, can be downloaded, and there is a job section for those of you seeking employment.
This conference brings together physicists and physics teachers in Belgium of different sectors and different scientific subdisciplines. A diverse program will be offered â both on research and physics teaching - including plenary talks, a young scientist oral presentation competition, and a best poster competition.
Parallel sessions and poster sessions will be organized on :
- Astrophysics, Geophysics, and Plasma Physics;
- Atoms, Molecules, Optics, and Photonics;
- Biophysics, Medical, Statistical, and Mathematical Physics;
- Condensed Matter and Nanophysics;
- Fundamental Interactions, Particle and Nuclear Physics;
- Physics and Education.
The deadline for abstract submission is on Saturday 15th April 2017, and for early registration on Monday 24th April 2017.

The BPS Young Speaker Contest has become a popular and successful tradition of our yearly General Scientific Meeting and this contest for best oral presentations will again be organised at the occasion of our meeting on May 17th in Mons. This contest aims at younger colleagues, especially those in their final years of a Ph.D. program, or post-doctoral researchers with not more than 5 years of professional experience after their Ph.D. The presentation has to focus on the own scientific work of the candidate and the work should not have been honoured by the BPS before.
The prize will be awarded to the best oral contribution in the framework of a special, plenary competition. There will be maximally three finalists giving a talk competing for the final Prize. The prize for the best oral contribution, the "Young Scientist Award", consists of a cash award of 750 EUR and a certificate. Second and third prizes are 500 EUR and 300 EUR respectively.
A jury will pre-select the cand...
