The BPS Young Speaker Contest has become a popular and successful tradition of our yearly General Scientific Meeting and this contest for best oral presentations will again be organised at the occasion of our meeting on May 17th in Mons. This contest aims at younger colleagues, especially those in their final years of a Ph.D. program, or post-doctoral researchers with not more than 5 years of professional experience after their Ph.D. The presentation has to focus on the own scientific work of the candidate and the work should not have been honoured by the BPS before.
The prize will be awarded to the best oral contribution in the framework of a special, plenary competition. There will be maximally three finalists giving a talk competing for the final Prize. The prize for the best oral contribution, the "Young Scientist Award", consists of a cash award of 750 EUR and a certificate. Second and third prizes are 500 EUR and 300 EUR respectively.
A jury will pre-select the candidates for the final competition based on talks with duration of 15 minutes each, according to their scientific value and their technical and pedagogical quality. If the number of candidates is too large, a first selection based on the abstract and CV of the applicant could occur before the pre-selection, for deciding the ones who would be invited to present a talk to the jury. The pre-selection will occur on Tuesday April 11th 2017 at the Department of Physics of the Royal Military Academy in Brussels. Please already make this date available!
In order to participate in the young scientist competition, the candidates submit their abstract (max. 1 A4 page), a CV and list of publications no later than April 4th, 2017 to the following email address: fabrice.louche at rma.ac.be. The candidate is to be listed as first author on the abstract. No more than one abstract can be submitted per candidate.
Please also note that the participant must be a member of the BPS. The full list of rules can be downloaded here.
